In November 2024, Q Shelter launched an Alumni network to formalise the continued relationship between past Q Shelter staff and management committee members. Its purpose is to strengthen and retain relationships between and among current staff and committee members, and those who have served earlier.
The role of the Alumni includes:
- To share information about Q Shelter and its activities
- To promote Q Shelter, its work and impact
- To exchange professional knowledge and experience
- To provide mentoring where possible
- To promote policy and investment solutions to unmet housing needs and homelessness consistent with our policy positions.
The opportunity to be a member of the Q Shelter Alumni includes:
- Attendance at Q Shelter events at discounted rates
- Participation in the Q Shelter AGM and End of Year Celebration
- Direct access to Q Shelter publications
- A complimentary ticket to an annual networking event (in June or November)
- A signature tile signaling Alumni status
- A promotional page listing Alumni participants on Q Shelter’s website
- Exclusive Alumni event
- Exclusive Q Shelter Alumni pin.
Criteria for participating in the Alumni include:
- Support for Q Shelter and its role in the sector
- Commitment to furthering Q Shelter’s relationships with diverse stakeholders and supporters
- Commitment to a knowledge exchange
- Participation in Q Shelter activities
- Alignment with Q Shelter values and code of conduct.
Joining the Q Shelter Alumni
Q Shelter will invite former staff and management committee members to apply for membership, and we also welcome Expressions of Interest from eligible people.

- Jon Eastgate: Q Shelter founding member who has also documented the history of Q Shelter
- Adrian Pisarski: Q Shelter’s longest serving Executive Officer/CEO.
- Emma Greenhalgh: Former Q Shelter Manager of Strategic Projects, and until recently, CEO of National Shelter.
- Teresa Reed: Former Q Shelter Management committee member of eight years
- Alana Kanafa: Former Community Housing Futures Program Manager
- Murray Benton: Former Community Housing Futures Sector Capacity Lead.
