Description

This Program Support and Engagement Officer Role is designed to provide program support across a range of activities such as phone contact, communications, record keeping, events, stakeholder engagement and data entry. Further, the role will support the Program Manager and Sector Capacity Lead to be effective in their roles providing diary, meeting and other administrative assistance as required.

Q Shelter is rapidly growing, and we are adding to our team working to influence solutions to housing need and homelessness. We are looking for people who are experienced in policy development, research, writing and strategic engagement. The ideal candidate will understand the system of government and the policy-making process.

You will be passionate about housing and homelessness solutions and will be committed to working tirelessly as part of our team to present workable, expert solutions within a positive and constructive culture.

Most importantly you will be committed to Q Shelter’s policy and advocacy framework of ‘better together’. We build relationships characterised by respect and we seek meaningful dialogue with all decision-makers and stakeholders about policy and investment solutions, program design and implementation support.

This is an opportunity to join a team engaged with all levels of Government, the broader community, the private sector and specialist housing and homelessness services to develop and present expert solutions that address housing needs and homelessness in Queensland.

These opportunities will suit people with extensive experience in policy and strategic engagement or people who are seeking to develop their expertise at an earlier stage of their career. You will have an opportunity to grow and development in the role and to be part of Q Shelter’s impact on policy and investment in Queensland.

The ideal candidate

Q Shelter is looking to work with someone with a proven track record in policy development and strategic engagement.

You may be experienced or at an earlier stage in your career with a willingness to learn.

You will be passionate about solutions to housing need and homelessness. You will be energetic and a team player.

You will contribute actively to a positive organisational culture. You will be a supportive colleague and a great communicator who can engage people, make connections and help build momentum for the right solutions to succeed.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant will have relevant tertiary qualifications in a field such as public policy, political science, engagement, economics or similar.
