Twice a year, representatives from across Queensland gather to discuss place-based challenges and opportunities specific to their regions. Together, we present these findings to government.

The Q Shelter Regional Forum is a bi-annual, two-day meeting that brings together housing and homelessness representatives from across Queensland to discuss place-based challenges, share information, and identify regional priorities. It acts as a critical, long-standing advocacy platform, creating a communiqué to inform government policy, build sector capacity, and enhance service coordination.

In 2021, Q Shelter reached 30 years of Regional Representative meetings with 21 delegates from 15 regions and two specialist networks.

Key Aspects of the Q Shelter Regional Forum:
Structure & Participants: The forum connects over 19 regions across Queensland, often including Service Integration Coordinators, to bridge local insights with state-wide strategy.

Purpose: The event aims to strengthen networks, address regional housing supply and homelessness, and provide a direct line of communication between regional providers and the Queensland Government.

Key Themes: Discussions typically focus on housing supply, private rental market trends, workforce sustainability, service integration, and tenancy support.

Outcomes: The forum culminates in a formal communiqué presented to the Queensland Government to influence policy and funding decisions.

These forums are part of Q Shelter’s broader efforts to support place-based initiatives, ensuring local needs are heard and addressed within the broader housing ecosystem.
